Historic Convent Viveiro

For generations, the Convent of Our Lady of Valdeflores has been part of life in Viveiro. The chronicles trace its origins back to 1406, and the building you see today dates from the late sixteenth century. It was home to a community of Dominican nuns for centuries, and at its height more than fifty sisters lived here. In 1980 it was declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument, and it is now protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural, Spain’s highest category of heritage protection.

The convent matters to the people of Viveiro. Its restoration has been supported over the decades by public funding, the town and the Cofradía de Valdeflores, and many local families still see it as part of the town’s own story. It is now available to a buyer who will care for it in the same spirit.
